Mom Jeans

It’s no secret that skinny jeans are no longer the only denim style that fashion bloggers and stylish celebrities are rocking. Boyfriend, flare-leg, and distressed styles run rampant amongst the most stylish stars. But the most unexpected denim trend is the old-school Mom Jeans style (or straight leg and high waist).

Mom jeans are one of the trendiest styles of jeans 2020 and 2021! They’re a product of the 1990s fashion that’s trendy at the moment. The mom jeans are characterized by their high waist, their semi-loose fit and their straight style. The jeans are common in classic blue, but also a washed blue. 

Plenty of embellishments, crazy styles and uncomfortable shapes are out of the door, with a premium being placed on classic shapes, without elastic, and perhaps with a small twist.

Street (or Instagram) style, with an eye on sustainability, has reigned supreme over the last year. And, since we've barely changed from sweatpants for a while, it's perhaps unsurprising that the women of social media and fashion week alike have turned to baggy comfortable 'dad-style' and vintage 'mom-style' style jeans for SS21.

We want to look cute, without having to disregard comfort. These jeans are my ultimate favorite. It is rare when I go back to skinny jeans. Most of the time, when I switch it up, I will turn to leather jeans.

I must say that the current way of styling mom jeans is pretty good. It’s common to pair the 90s item with cropped tops.

Now lets talk about a couple of tips to style mom jeans:

•  Either blouses, simple tops or cropped sweaters.
• Tucking in t-shirts and sweaters have also been common.
• I like working with the denim material and wear my mom jeans with leather jacket or a faux fur.
• When it comes to shoes it can be chic to go for a neat pair of boots or flats to balance the semi-loose style. A pair of patent leather boots can be really chic. 
• If you want to embrace the 90s’ life, go for a pair of chunky sneakers! As for colors and prints, denim blue is a neutral color and is therefore a match with any color.
